These are some of those experimental shots I was taking to see if this would even work.

I think these are awesome Chris. They are inventive if anything, which is something so hard to come by. We always talk about inspirations, but not copying. I think you have been able to create something really unique and of your own. I keep trying to think of new and inventive ways of shooting or ways of recreating something old and making it mine...I think you have accomplished that with these. I am really interested to see where you are going to go and even if you can't get much color with them, how you can work with them and make them even more pronounced. This is something that I can't wait to see where they go and the process you are going to follow to get there.

Strong start to your photo journey. As experimental shots, I think the focus is key to these. The non-detailed focus makes me ask more questions. I know you said that these are not the easiest to shoot/develop, but I want to see more and new things. I am sure I will soon. As a documentary-style portrait these work well. The composition of the upper two, I think works better than the third one. In the first two there is limited information, just enough to make us ask questions about the person. I can tell that Dash had an influence on your style in these.

I encourage you to continue experimenting with this. As the viewer, I am intrigued. Also keep color in mind. I think the second is the strongest because of the red shirt. It is bold- placed into a muted setting. The first describes the place more definitively. I can feel the ugliness of those yellow lights. It all depends what you want to compose. Also in the second one. I feel that it is a strong composition because I can complete the person's outline of the left side of their head even though it is not shown. I think the second one has just enough light.
That's all for now.
