The "Process" has just started...

0

Wow, its the day of our final critique...Holy shit! It has been an amazing experience to travel with the people that I have through this advanced and intermediate class. After seeing most people editing their work, I am so proud to say that I had class with these talented people. It is through these students that my work has been able to progress, and through Shane, that I have been taught. It has been a beautiful and guided journey, with hiccups through the year, and much strife imposed on others. However, even with present circumstances....I believe we come out victorious over these adversaries that have tried to stump our growth and our creative intelligence. Thank you class for standing strong, and thank you Shane for continuing to believe in us and push us with every burst of left over, wearied energy. We will never be able to repay that effort, you have put into our lives here at SNC and for our future. This blog will continue to stay up, and I hope we continue to use it! This is just another way for us to be able to communicate constantly about what inspires us, and words of advice that we have got to hear for the past year, in person. Let's not stop...our lives are an ever, constant "process." Let's do everything and prove to everyone that we won't stop, even after we walk across that stage and we go our separate ways. Like I said before...I am proud to be graduating (and continuing) classes with all of you! Thank you.

Our lives are the greatest work of art. Make the most of it!

Just one more... Michael Dweck

This guy (thank you Shane) is truly fantastic...and I think he does work the most similar to mine... Or I do work similar to him...I don't even care which it is, because he really does make beautiful work! I think this goes along with my question down in my first, recent post.... These are all different colors and light, yet they still work in a body of work. This is something I have been trying to figure out for my final with my many different colors and times of day. So do they all need to be similar, or is it just because it works, even if they are different in some ways?

I want her and I to get coffee: Alyssa Monks

0

I saw her portrait at Art Chicago...Alyssa Monks just might be the most moving person that I look to...To see her brush strokes up close and see this raw and ragged way of painting such a beautiful figure...

Second: Eric Zener

This is my second artist to view who I have continued to research... This is Eric Zener and Chris was so kind to send this guy to me after he went back to Art Chicago. All of these posts will be similar, because they all have similar elements... These are beautiful paintings! I am not sure if I am a fan of the brightness of the swimsuit element, but the colors are truly brilliant, and I am sorry I missed seeing up close. Thanks Chris!

Alot of Artists coming your way...First: David LaChapelle

This is David LaChapelle...He was recommended for me to look at from my friend, Alfredo, the photography I highlighted awhile back, from Paris. Alfredo and I were talking for awhile, because I wanted to get his outside opinion on my work and what he thought of it as a whole. That is something I have been looking at alot more...a body of work. I obviously am drawn to a certain "style" of work. I appreciate and am drawn to an aspect of distortion on my work. I am not sure yet, why that is...It intrigues me to some degree to see other sides of people through these mediators which are the water and orginally my shower pictures. I always find it interesting that there are so many sides to people. The water doesn't allow them to put much thought into their posing. There is only so much control you can have as you bob around, and puff out your cheeks to hold in air... Then there is the ability to open your eyes vs. not being able to. I feel like there is such an interest in the poses people choose and the fact that their face say so much with their eyes closed as much as with their eyes open. He also mentioned to me about continuing my shower pictures as a full body work...I have always done portraits, but I am intrigued to try full body ones as well.

Need Feedback

0

I really did not enjoy trying to do this. But I would appreciate any sort of feedback, even if it is to reaffirm me that portraiture is not necessary or that I am terrible at it. I just need to know thoughts please.
