Good ol' Goethe

If I accept you as you are, I will make you worse. However, if I treat you as though you are what you are capable of becoming, I help you become that. - Goethe, German author

All of us need to remind each other of this and push towards our goal! Let's kick some a&$!!

I enjoy this quote maybe too much. This sums up how I felt yesterday at my show. I really knew who I was. That's who I was. I was in all of my work. If anyone had accepted me as I used to be, or am currently I become hindered of change. I want to continue changing. At the beginning of the semester I never thought I could put those images on the wall. But I did. I am SO glad nobody accepted me and my work as it was. I would not be where I am.

I would agree with Jacki on this quote. I think this what we try so hard to do, to stress with the Intermediate students now to feel. I think we didn't feel this at the beginning of our Intermediate class, but over that time I think that is what made our class so successful. We pushed eachother and didn't allow eachother to slack. Our encouragement turned into harsher, but more productive criticism, and it allowed us to feel for what we created at the end. I think this quote sums up how I would like to work, if I become a teacher someday. We need to continue to push eachother, and we need to pick it up with the intermediate students as well... I understand they have to make that choice for themselves, but lets continue to do what we can to help them to realize it. Let's feel that passion when we put stuff up on the wall this semester like we did last semester, and Chris, I am sure you felt in your class.
